Human Rights Advocate Zargar Patnavi Welcomes Elevation of India-Ethiopia Ties to Strategic Partnership

New Delhi, December 18, 2025, Advocate Zargar Patnavi, Diplomatic Global Peace Ambassador and Director of the National Human Rights and Social Justice Council of India (Global), has extended a warm welcome to the recent elevation of bilateral relations between India and Ethiopia to a strategic partnership.

In a statement, Advocate Patnavi described the development as a positive step forward, stating: “This strengthened friendship between India and Ethiopia is a good sign towards India’s emerging global leadership and its pursuit of permanent membership in the United Nations Security Council (UNSC).”

The upgrade in ties follows Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s bilateral visit to Addis Ababa on December 16-17, 2025, during which wide-ranging talks with Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali led to the formal announcement of the strategic partnership. The two nations also signed several memorandums of understanding in areas including defense, education, technology, and peacekeeping.

Advocate Patnavi emphasized that such partnerships reflect India’s growing role in fostering South-South cooperation and contributing to global peace and development.
